Brette McWhorter Sember is a retired attorney and author of many nonfiction

She is an experienced freelancer, ghostwriter, book doctor, blogger, indexer, and copyeditor. She writes often about law, parenting, divorce, business, pregnancy, health, education, learning skills, women's and family issues, adoption, reproductive technology, finance, writing, real estate, children's books, senior issues and more. Brette has worked as a senior editor for a small publisher, a Huffington Post blogger, freelancer for many major magazines, a columnist for a regional magazine, and a contributing editor for an online magazine. 

As a ghostwriter and book doctor, Brette has worked on a variety of projects and topics including project management, textbooks, test-taking skills, self-tutoring, adoption, business, virtual assistants, conversation starters, and many more. As an indexer and copyeditor, she has worked on over 300 titles.

Brette's articles have appeared in over 160 publications including American Baby, ePregnancy Magazine, Pregnancy, Child, Writer's Digest, Personal Journaling, Home Business Journal, Mary Engelbreit's Leading the Artful Life, Divorce Magazine, New York Law Journal, Conceive, Fit Pregnancy, Every Baby and many regional publications. She was a columnist for four different regional parenting magazines and was a staff writer for several web sites, including eHow.com (where she created over 350 how-to pages), Lawyers.com, Whoodoo.com (travel site), My Counsel.com, and Office.com. She is currently a blogger for MommaSaid.net, the Huffington Post, DoOver.com, YourTango.com, and WomansDivorce.com, as well as her own blogs. She has also taught an online course for Barnes and Noble University. She does frequent appearances and interviews. Brette is the recipient of the 2000 Mothers at Home Media Award, a Bronze Award from the Parenting Publications of America for a special series, and one of her books was a Ben Franklin Award finalist.

She is a member of ASJA (American Society of Journalists and Authors), EFA (The Editorial Freelancers Association), ASI (The American Society for Indexing), The Association of Ghostwriters, The Author’s Guild, SCBWI (Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators) and IACP (International Association of Culinary Professionals)
